Syracuse University extended its Early Decision application deadline in response to the effects of Superstorm Sandy.

The original deadline, Nov. 15, is now a soft deadline. Those planning on applying to SU will have until Dec. 1 to submit Early Decision applications, according to the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

SU’s College of Visual and Performing Arts’ portfolio and audition Early Decision deadlines are also pushed to Dec. 1.

SU is one of many colleges to extend its deadline. Other colleges in the area that have extended deadlines include Ithaca College, Cornell University and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, according to the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
